Black Stars assistant coach Maxwell Konadu admits his boss faces selection dilemma ahead of Tuesday’s 2014 World Cup qualifying decider against Egypt following the return of star midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng.
All the players called up for the crucial game in Cairo have hit top form, but the return of Kevin-Boateng especially has added some massive competition at the heart of midfield.
The Schalke enforcer missed the first leg drubbing in Kumasi due to a problematic knee injury.
But the 26-year-old has recovered in time for the BIG showdown in the troubled North African country after taken part in his first training session at their base in Turkey on Wednesday.
Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari provided amazing cover during the first leg tie but Boateng’s inclusion will mean coach Kwesi Appiah must shuffle his cards. Maxwell Konadu concedes the display from the players for their respective clubs abroad will give his boss plenty to ponder ahead of the clash against the Pharaohs on November 19.
“Everybody is given up his best and we’re very happy. You can see camp climate is very good and everybody is in the good frame of mind to perform,” Konadu said.
“They are all doing their best. You know previously we never had all the players like this. We had them for the first time against Zambia and Egypt and now everybody is jelling together very well.
“We are happy working with these guys. They are top class professionals players and to be part of this group is a good thing.
“This happens everywhere, but it’s up to the head coach to really see who are the right people for the tactics we are going to adopt.
“I think he has done it before and we will do it again. With the help of the almighty I am sure things will go well for us to get the necessary win that we want.”
The Black Stars will fly to Egypt on Monday ahead of the return fixture a day later at the Air Defense stadium in volatile Cairo.
