Member of Parliament for Tamale Central Inusah Fuseini in his view, believes that there would be substantial reason as to why Prof Ransford Gyampo and Dr. Paul Kwame Butakor were picked for the BBC documentary on sex-for-grades.

He noted that University of Ghana has several lecturers, hence, for the two to be singled out, means a lot.

“The University of Ghana has a lot of lecturers. They didn’t just settled on Prof Gyampo but everyone must understand that they have a reason, a basis for choosing Prof Gyampo. That bases may be proven in an investigation but the fact is that they have reason to belief that what they were hearing about those lecturers needed further investigation," he said on Newsfile, Saturday.

Mr Fuseini further mentioned that though the BBC Africa Eye conducted the investigations using the unconventional method, a connection needed to be established between a lecturer and a student.

He said: “They chose the unconventional approach probably because of the power relation between the students and the lecturers. It was going to be exceedingly difficult to get students to come out and testify against their lecturers, that’s why they chose the unconventional method of taking somebody outside the university.”

“What did they want to demonstrate, they wanted to demonstrate that when a lecturer come in close proximity with the students inappropriate conduct occurs. That lecturers exploit the power relationship between them and their students and engage in misconduct and that was the essence of the video."

Meanwhile, Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr, says his protegé and investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas had anything to do with the documentary.

Speaking on the same show, he disclosed that the BBC approached Anas to work on its Africa Eye’s exposé on sexual harassment in two universities in West Africa but he declined the offer.

“There is no Anas in there because it wasn’t as if an opportunity did not exist for an Anas to be in there, but Anas declined to be part of this particular project. [This is] because he is doing so many other things and I did not want an Anas to be in there,” he explained.
