Ahead of the 2019 AFCON draw on Friday, there seems to be some political upheaval at CAF headquarters.

A bucket full of drama continues to unfold after General Secretary Amr Fahmy was removed following a showdown with President Ahmad who said he could no longer work with him.

Ghana's Anthony Baffoe who was Fahmy's deputy is now in charge as the top administrator answering directly to the CAF President.

CAF is no stranger to "crazy" politics as witnessed during the almost three decades of rule by former President Isa Hayatou.

Ahmad's stance however took many by surprise as he is seen as more liberal than his Cameroonian predecessor.

Amr Fahmy becomes the latest top official to fall out with Ahmad Ahmad after Former Liberia FA Boss Musa Bility resigned from the Emergency Committee of CAF accusing Ahmad of leading the organization in the ‘wrong direction’.

Musa Bility who was one of the powerful men who engineered Ahmad’s presidential mission in a damning resignation letter expressed disappointment and sadness over the conduct of Ahmad who he claims is running an administration with “close associates he feels comfortable around”.

"I can no longer summon the courage to work in these posts at the whims and caprices of the president, who I believe is leading this noble organisation in the wrong direction. I believe we are worse than we were two years ago,” Bility wrote. Our situation is such that today the president has demonstrated brazen disregard for the Executive Committee but chooses to run Caf with close associates he feels comfortable around and carries a certain degree of respect for.”
