Popular broadcaster Gilbert Aggrey aka Abeiku Santana has hit at Ghanaian celebrities organising Saturday’s 'dumsor' vigil, saying they have no intellectual appreciation of the power crisis Ghana is battling.

Actress Yvonne Nelson and her colleagues in the creative arts industry, EL, DKB, Van Vicker, Barimah Sydney and many more, have concluded arrangements with the police and city authorities to rally their fans for the vigil in Accra on Saturday, May 16.

But Santana said their efforts are misplaced given there are other important things they could fight for.

"Instead of them fighting for their poor film industry, they are here talking about something they don’t even get.

“Currently, lying before parliament is the film bill. They sit here and there are a lot of foreign soap operas taking over our television sets. Can’t you see that they are very, you know, excuse me to say, shallow?” he asked.

According to him, “they don’t understand the issues” pertaining to the energy crisis.

“They don’t even appreciate, they don’t understand the issues and they want to fight for the nation.

“If you want to fight for something that would benefit you directly. As for the energy crisis, it’s a national crisis. Government is committed and government will make sure it will do everything in their power to resolve it,” the Mfantseman West NDC parliamentary aspirant told journalists in Accra, Friday.

“They won’t achieve anything because 'Won gbo' has done it, 'Wahala' has done it,” he stated indignantly.
