The Management of Elmina Sharks are demanding a full refund of the cost they incurred when they traveled to Berekum on Monday for their Ghana Premier League, match day three, midweek fixture against Berekum Chelsea, without knowing that the game has been rescheduled.
General Manager of Elmina Sharks told Kumasi based Fox FM in an interview that, they will hold the Ghana Football Association (GFA) responsible for not informing them that their game has been postponed thus seeing them on a fruitless trip to Berekum.
“We will let the FA pay. The FA must pay the money. We will serve them receipts of our bookings and they will have to pay the cost because this was not our fault” said George Wiredu.
Elmina Sharks were scheduled to play Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park on Wednesday. The FA however canceled the game because the Park had been hired to a church for its Easter convention by the Municipal Assembly, which owns the venue.
Elmina Sharks got wind of the cancellation very late and that was when they got to Berekum. They had already booked hotel accommodation for three days. Now they say, they want their money back.
