Social media users launch new challenge to mock government over failed coup attempt

Usually when you hear an attempt to destabilize a country, people are put on high alert, others find ways to beef up security to forestall any eventuality, but Ghanaians have launched a hilarious challenge on social media dubbed #coupchallenge to mock government, over the allegation that some people were plotting to overthrow the administration.

The information minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Monday 23rd September revealed in a statement that three people, Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, Donya Kafui (a local weapon manufacturer) and Bright Allan Debrah Ofosu were plotting to overthrow the government and also destabilize the country.

After the news broke, many people took to their social media, (Twitter, Facebook) to mock the alleged coup, claiming that the weapons listed could not destabilize a house let alone a whole nation.

Most of the social media users claimed the allegations were just a diversionary tactic implemented by government to move attention from the many scandals that have engulfed the country; recently being the SHS placement chaos, PDS brouhaha amongst others.
