Special Prosecutor will be independent of me – Akufo-Addo

The yet to be appointed Special Prosecutor will operate totally independent of the Executive arm of Government, President Akufo-Addo has assured.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Gloria Akuffo, at the opening ceremony of the International Bar Association African Forum Conference held at the Labadi beach hotel under the theme; “Rising to the Challenge of Africa’s Economic Development – The Role of the Legal Profession”, the President said it is his hope that the work of the Special Prosecutor (SP) will deal with all pending corruption issues in the Public and Private Sectors of the country and subsequently act as a deterrent to all Public Office holders.

IBA African Forum

The three-day conference taking place in Ghana from 15th to 17th November 2017 is presented by the IBA African Regional Forum with the support of the Ghana Bar Association. The topics to be discussed include; The challenges of resolving business disputes in Africa, The practice of Law on a rising continent and Emerging practice areas to meet the needs of Africa’s economic growth amongst others.
