We don’t compete in things that set Ghana back – Gabby replies Mahama
Governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member and close confidante of the President, Asare Otchere-Darko (Gabby), has noted that the NPP does not compete with the National Democratic Congress in the things that sets Ghana back.
“It burns the heart whenever some elements do things that allow NPP to be compared to NDC negatively,” Gabby wrote.
The private legal practitioner’s Facebook post comes days after former President Mahama said nobody can beat the NDC when it comes to unleashing violence.
“The NDC has revolutionary roots and when it comes to unleashing violence. Nobody can beat us in unleashing violence,” he warned the NPP.
Mahama was reacting to some violent incidents that occurred at the private residence of the NDC candidate, Delali Kwesi Brempong during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election last Thursday.
Some national security operatives stormed the residence and engaged in a shooting spree.
Some voters believed to be sympathisers of the NDC were also beaten by the armed men.
MP for Ningo Prampram, Sam George, was also assaulted by some of the macho men.
Minister of State in charge of National Security has defended the operation by the armed men, saying that they were acting on intelligence.
Several civil society groups have condemned the attack and have called for investigations into the matter.
President Nana Akufo-Addo noted that those found culpable must face the law.
But the opposition NDC believes this is a farce. They have accused the NPP and the government of intimidation during the by-election and have even called for the results to be annulled.
Former President Mahama who is gunning to lead the NDC into the 2020 elections says they with meet the NPP boot for boot in the violence game.
His comments have attracted some frowning faces including that of council of state member, Sam Okudzeto who described them as irresponsible.
