Murder suspects remanded

Wassa Akropong (W/R), July 27, GNA - Three galamsey operators who allegedly murdered a colleague have been remanded by a magistrate's court at Wassa Akropong.

They pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on September 22. They are Sagismond Fameyeh, 48, alias Simple, Kwasi Badu, 45 alias Miliki and Foster Essel, 39, alias Bombay.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector William K. Katapu told the court presided over by Mr Frank K. Mensah that the deceased Gabriel Twumhene, aged 45, was also a galamsey operator who hailed from Wassa Akropong in the Amenfi East District of the Western Region.

He said on May 21 this year, the Wassa Akropong Police was informed that a dead body was floating on the Adesu River and when the body was retrieved, it was identified as that of Gabriel who had gone missing on May 20, during a galamsey expedition.

Inspector Katapu said investigations by the Police, led to the arrest of the three suspects.
