Like Jesus’ disciple, Thomas, who only believed Jesus had appeared to his colleagues while he was away after he had seen and touched the Messiah himself, some residents of Old Fadama in Accra are asking for videos of coronavirus patients in Ghana to accept that the pandemic is really in the country.

These persons feel just announcing figures is not enough to convince citizens that Ghana is fighting the pandemic.

The Information Ministry has ensured that Ghanaians are always briefed on how far the nation is faring in the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic.

Various ministries, as well as government agencies, are given the opportunity to educate the nation on their role in the battle.

Key in the battle against the pandemic, Ghanaians have been educated on the safety precautions to take to protect themselves from the pandemic.

The Ghana Health Service plays the role of informing the country on the number of cases being recorded on a daily bases and how patients are responding to treatment.

Health workers across the country are giving their all to save the lives of patients while allied health professionals have been engaging in contact tracing to stem community spread.

But some Ghanaians think all these actions are not enough and would cherish the opportunity to see how patients are faring for themselves.

In an interview with GhanaWeb, some persons asked government to allow journalists film patients at the various isolation centres and show on their various channels as other countries are doing.

“Other countries are showing it on the television but here in Ghana, we’ve been hearing the numbers but we don’t see it…Government should do something to show us that it is really there because most of us, we don’t believe that it is here in Ghana.”

“...we don’t know how serious the sickness is… the president should kindly let some of the journalists on the frontline to go in, to video these sick people for Ghanaians to see.”

They also called for more education since they don’t have a proper understanding of the Coronavirus.

They, however, noted that they try to take the necessary precautions to stay safe.

Ghana has recorded 1042 Coronavirus cases so far with 99 recoveries and 9 deaths.

On Sunday, April 19, 2020, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo lifted the restriction of movement he had imposed on Accra, Kasoa, Tema and Kumasi three weeks ago.
