Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has released a list of roads in the Volta Region earmarked for construction this year which he failed to captured in the 2020 budget that he read to Parliament on Wednesday, 13 November 2019.
There was a barrage of criticism against the government for the omission, which officialdom has described as a “genuine mistake”.
While Senior Minister Yaw Osarfo-Maafo said it was a clear mistake, Deputy Information Minister Pious Enam Hadzide said the omission came as a result of a printing error.
Mr Ofori-Atta noted in a statement on Friday that his attention has been drawn to the error, explaining: “My checks confirmed the inadvertent omission of the Volta Region”.
Mr Ofori-Atta observed that some of the critical roads being considered for the region to include Asikuma-Have(45 km), Have-Hohoe-Jasikan (83 km) and Ho-Dzodze-Denu(99 km).
