NIGERIA TO WIN AFCON CUP SEVEN TIMES!!!
Nigeria will keep the AFCON Cup for a very very long time before Ghana ever think of smelling it. With or without your 'juju' we shall keep the CUP with the power of Holy Ghost on our side, and Jesus Christ, our "keeper" shall 'KEEP' the AFCON CUP for us, for a very very long time.
(AFCON CUP TO BE JOINED BY "WORLD CUP" very soon). 'Super Eagles' of Nigeria, shall soon become "World Champions" very soon in Jesus mighty name, Amen. (It is settled in heaven). I really mean business, and with very 'POWERFUL PRAYERS' for the 'SUPER EAGLES' of Nigeria, and the real Jesus Christ of Nazareth on our side, VICTORY IS OURS. This is no joke! No weapon, (like 'Ghana JUJU'), fashion against us shall prosper. Ameeeeeeeeeeeeeeen.
Therefore, you Ghana people should stop dreaming of laying your hands on that Cup for a very very LOOOOONG TIME. All of you Naija HATERS can go to HELL.
I AM YOUR NEMESIS.

we've had 4 coaches in 5 years...meaning no stability what so ever. every time a coach gets going he either leaves or we give him the boot. every one is coming down on appiah and praising Milo but it seems that Ghanaians forgot how much we struggled for 2 years under Milo before we got to the form we got to in 2010. We were mediocre under Duya for 2 year as well and look how we performed in the 2006 WC. Had any of those coaches from the past stayed i bet you we would have an AFCON cup by now. Ghanaians can be so naive sometimes its completely beyond me. Evryone wants a fix now but are not willing to suffer through the struggle. Italy struggled for 2 years under Prandelli and they made it all the way to the final of the 2012 Euro. for our sake i hope they keep Appiah so he can continue because he is doing so much better in his first 9 months than Goran or Milo or Duya who you all praise had ever done in their first 9 months in charge. And if we fire him i guarantee you that we wont qualify for the WC and some way some how if we do, it'll be an abysmal showing.

You make very important observations about how Ghana can't keep coaches. There are reasons why Ghana can't keep coaches, and I can mention a few reasons why. The 4 coaches you mentioned struggled to make immediate impact because they are not your top 10% in terms of quality in international coaching. Ghana cannot afford to pay coaches of that calibre, period. Assuming Ghana can afford TOP-TIER coaches, the latter would struggle to adjust to the way Ghana does business and also our cultural attitudes. So Ghana is getting second and third tier quality coaching at a high price. IF GHANA WANTS TO GO LOCAL, fine........it has to make sure that:
1) the Local coach including his assistant are the best amongst all the others.
AA was nominated without competing with other Ghanaian coaches, home and abroad. Assuming the hiring committee went through standard protocol where the job was advertised, and all applicants were vetted and AA came out as the best that would have been okay with most of us.
2) the most different is to have a local coach and his technical team competitive on the international stage....by that I mean how technologically educated are they. Old school coaching is not enough. The coach must know about high-tech stats, data reading and how to apply that information to his tactics. Is the local coach confident enough and competent enough to apply and be able to function as coach in an European economy. If not then the coach will always play second fiddle.
3) the GFA is the sole organization that can provide the above. They are also responsible for keeping out corruption, bribery, favoritism out of the system and organization. That calls for personnel of the highest integrity, transparency, accountability and efficiency.
4) the best local coach with the support of his technical team should be entrusted with the sole responsibility of selecting the best Ghanaian players home and abroad for each position, without favoritism. The attributes of the selected players must be earmarked and justified in terms of averages: pace, stamina, strength, assists per game, goals per season, mileage per game, errors per game, passes, etc.

5) The GFA must decide, (and this is as important as the above 4 points in the previous post.) on a STANDARD MODEL or STYLE of play. This model should be relevant to the physical and psychological attributes of the Ghanaian athlete. There are several known international styles of playing such as the Spanish, Continental, British, Brazilian, etc Ghana should come up with a model and stick with it. This will unify the players so that they know how to operate whenever they are called up. The model can be tweaked from time to time.

The only remedy to our situation as I see it, is to keep the coach and experiment on the players in a reasonable time like we did in 1978 Cup of Nations in Ghana. Ghanaians don't appreciate what you do as a sacrifice and a service to your country especially when you fail to achieve a set goal, they fumed like crazy because of desperation. Go back to that period prior to the 1978 tournament and bring back the memory of how ungrateful Ghanaians were to the Black Stars match after match until the day Agyemang Prempeh got injured by the SS 74 (Black Stars won the match 3-1) team that we said was the only team the Black Stars had to beat to prove they were good, which they did. After that, all and sundry of the Ghanaian news papers started calling for an end to all trial matches, and to that call we did heed and we went on win the trophy with the local players who became big time super stars in the history of Ghana soccer.Let us talk to those involved in the preparations and stop all the nonses of talking or dealing with foreign coaches or the professional players. Another thing is, I don't believe some of these foreign based players do play their hearts out for Ghana (some play while thinking about their contracts), I might be wrong, but that is how I see or feel about our situation. Wake up Ghana we can make it. Think about the days Ghanaians walk to and from work, family visit, hospitals and appointments in 1983 during the revolution. That was a tough period, but we made it with the help of God and all Ghanaians.

Ghanaians get way over emotional after these losses. 1) Changing coaches all the time does not solve anything, 2) Being harder on the local coach is unfair (Proven by Stephen Keshi with Nigeria), 3) Touting local champions to be selected is unrealistic (Solomon Asante is good but he missed an easy opportunity in the first half against Burkina and Clottey proved that he really is not that good), 4) We are underestimating how tough AFCON is. Keep in mind that we went further than Algeria, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Zambia and Angola. We should have gone to the final but Burkina was just bigger and stronger. Had we met Togo instead, we would have been in the final.

Anokwale did you really mean what you said or it is a joke:
"3) Touting local champions to be selected is unrealistic (Solomon Asante is good but he missed an easy opportunity in the first half against Burkina and Clottey proved that he really is not that good)" Gyan missed more chances in the Cape Verde match than what Clottey and Solomon Asante missed together in the whole tournament.
Why are you against the selection of local players? Mba of Nigeria is a local player, he scored against Ivory Coast and he scored against Burkina. Did you not see the talent in Solomon Asante or Clottey? Clottey was never given a chance to start any of the matches for him to prove himself or to screw up. Believe it or not the local players are hungrier. In Afcon 2012 Zambia used mostly local players and some who ply their trade in African except a few such as Mayuka. You are pushing for local coaches......sounds fair...some of us are pushing for the best local coach.....if it is AA, then there must be proof through competition amongst all the Ghanaian local coaches home and abroad. GFA just gave it AA without screening other potential Ghanaian candidates. Anokwale, you are against good local players but you are pushing for incompetent local coach. Why?
You also said:
"Had we met Togo instead, we would have been in the final." There is no proof of that, because they could have beaten us, or we could have beaten them.

The Essiens, the Abedis, the Kelvin Prince Boatengs, ............. you name them. I think that some of these players more often than not consider the salary they receive and compare it to what Ghana will offer them after a tournament. Judge for yourselves the Ghanaian cedi and the Euro/dollar/pound which one will you prefare??? Leave Akwasi Appiah alone. He offered what he can as a good citizen. We all know that only Nkrumah and Acheampong were the true Ghanaina leaders at heart who took the Ghana Black Stars to victory. Now that the Obuasi gold is able to pilot airoplane enroute to Iran via Turkey unaided, presidents and their wives furnishing jewery stores in Europe only to be told that "Koo gyama wabo wo dam you think that the jewery store is yours". Do not blame it on Akwasi Appiah or any othe player but blame it on your foolish Mahama who celebrated the doom of the Black Stars at the hands of the Brokinabe when he remarked that it was a good thing that he did not go to withness that match between Ghana Black Stars and the Brokinabe. a whole president is that all you got for the Back stars and for that matter Ghana as a whole. Spain won the World and European Cup as a result of long term planning and development. It is all about long term Planning, Training and Development. The FA need to bring back the Colts system again to unearth young talents. The District and Regional offices of the Football Association should develop the grass root level.
Then our past great footballers should be sponsored and trained as Coaches for the national teams.I'm an advocate of local coaches but Akwasi Appiah, I'm afraid is not up to the task. Having being assistant coach for over 2 AFCON, he seems not to have learnt much lessons.
We should learn to play attcking football rather than the 4-5-1 from the grassroot. Brazil plays 4-3-3, same as Spain. The best form of defence is to attack. I'm in favour of a local Coach with attacking minded formation. Over to you GFA

Who cares, besides you fail to realize that the Zambian win is not based on a well crafted and developed footballing culture, that offers a basis for consistency. If Ghana is debating our failures, you Zambians should do well to discuss your too.
Winning the cup is only the first difficult step, defending it is the second difficult test, and recovering from a devastating non-performance like the one you just experienced in SA is the third test. Let's see how long it take you people to recover even to a third place AFCON finish.

However, I disagree with you that Appiah should be axed, I will prefer thzt he is given the opportunity to do better coaching course and also site under the feet of some renouned coaches in Europe to learn for Ghana. Not Only Appear, but a selected persons could picked for this if we really love our footbal. Again, I agree with you that we spoil our boys with money, it plays a major part of our failure!
