More oil find and more oil production in the very near future can help the economy. In the meantime the govt must cut its coat according to its size.

What do they do to warrant 72 million a month? They are also being given rent free accommodation which I am more than convinced, they WILL WANT TO BUY and or RENT OUT!!!!

You wrote; "In a political climate where such projects are either initiated for political expediency and not necessarily on the basis of economic sanity, the President must tread cautiously to avert the doom that is caused by the reckless spending recorded for 2012 and previous years." So you know all this waste went on in 2012, yet you coerced you gullible readers to choose the NDc evil cabal over the much competent leaderships of the likes of Abu Sakara, Nana Addo, Paa Kwesi Ndoom .. and of course the damnable Ayari-cough. You are truly a nation wrecker and a hypocrite par excellence.

Good article. The solution to these cycle of abandoned projects is easy. Our political system gives presidents a four year term mandate. So there should be a binding law kind of,to pressurise new governments to continue projects not completed by previous governments. This should be applicable to especially long term projects.Like bridges, airports,Dams or projects that will require more years than their four year mandate.when it comes to the short term projects, governments should initiate projects they have sourced funding for completion.Truely it would be wise if President mahama can review the abandoned projects and complete those that make economic sense. He would be able to commission more projects which will increase his populerity as an achievable president.

This is true. Completing these abandoned projects may not only cost less than starting new ones but will also create jobs. However, priority should be given to projects that deals with power and water supply. Governments all over the world as embarking austerity measures to reduce fiscal deficits. Ghana Government should do the same. All MDAs be asked to reduce by 15%. Take transport. Just think of the number of senior officials in the MDAs driving state cars to funerals at week ends with fuel and drivers salaries fully paid for by the state. Again.Office accomodation. Almost, every line managers have their own offices. If an open office system is introduced, two ministries can share one block of offices, thus freeing the other to rent out.
Doctor Bokor, Can you help us with a list of the abandoned project.
