I forced him to eventually confess in one of his articles on Justice Kpegah that his great-grandfather was married to a daughter of a Kwadwo Dei. This could be in the 1870s, after the Akyem General Dompreh led a group of Akyems to support the people of that area, referred to generally as Krepi bu the Europeans but to the natives as Weme, against the Asante-led invasion and raid of that area spearheaded by the Asante filibuster Adu Boafo in 1869. His great grandfather was one of the lucky ones who escaped with his life and settled in Peki. It appears Kwame's father got married to an Akyem woman and his son Kwame has been re-asserting his Akyem origins by being more Akyem than 100% bona fide Akyems! It is the scourge of the new convent to be zealots!
The way Kwame portrays the VR, one not informed would think that the VR does not have Akans as natives too but only Ewes! A big chunk of the VR is occupied by Akans, not to mention the multitude of other linguistic groups there besides Ewes. Speaking Twi in Ho is just as normal as speaking Ewe! To therefore imply that Kuranchie wasn't safe there, despite the furore about the banku and tilapia regal treatment he was receiving, as if he was on a picnic trip to the Ho prison, is simply another vile slur at the people of the VR!

This shouldn't be surprising since the Pekis have had a close relationship with those Akans near them for a very long time. Even today, many people in Peki bear Akan surnames. It is not for nothing that Pekiman Ephraim Amu could so easily master Akan and compose many of his songs in that language. But the Pekis are, by and large, Ewes who have their own special variant of Ewe. Andy - as Anlo, you may find it difficult to understand some of their Ewe words. But all "Ewedome" will not have much difficulty understanding them.
And, you know, Okoampa's thing with the Ewes is particularly against the Anlos probably because of Rawlings. So he keeps writing "Anlo-Ewe" a nebulous term that doesn't mean anything and which Ewes themselves, generally, do not use!!! You, Andy, have also had occasion to refer to yourself as "Anlo-Ewe" but it would sound stupid to inform a fellow Ewe that you are "Anlo-Ewe". You would simply say you are "Anlo", period. No hyphens. And that is only if your accent does not already give you away...

Prof, I agree with you that Atta Kyea was abysmal at the Supreme Court. I could not believe that this was the Lawyer that Ghanaians claim he is one of the best. It made me ask myself whether some of Ghana's best lawyers are actually mediocre?
However, Prof I totally disagree with you that Atta Kyea did a yeoman's job in the Ya Na case. The fact is that the prosecution was abysmal and any damn fool defence attorney could have won that case hands down. Again, the Judge erred in concluding that murder could not be proven with a body. (see my article on this matter, "Corpus delicti, The Ya-Na Murder Trial. Did the Judge Err", Ghanaweb, April 7, 2011). Though the Judge erred, he was right not to have found the accused guilty because state prosecution did not conduct any proper investigations but decided to round up certain individuals from only one side of the conflict and prosecute them for political expediency. In my view, if state prosecution had done their home work well, some conviction could have been secured and Atta Kyea could not have claimed any credit. That case was and still a disgrace to Ghana.

I am really surprised that Daniel has been so generously lenient to the Prof. in extending where Rubicon lies. The fact is that the Prof. has long crossed the Rubicon but we seem to be cowered either by his acclaimed eloquence and command of the English language or his characteristic swift, ruthless vengeful insults.
Many have backed away from taking him on where he most deserved it. And the few who occasionally do probably do not want to fight everyone's battle for them. So, the Prof. has had a field day with trashing whole tribes without restraint.
The Prof. has on many occasions exhibited abject bigotry, and seems to be fixated on Ewes, in particular, for dumping his venom to dehumanize that ethnic group. That is the truth.
I would not be surprised if he could be psycho-analyzed as some incorrigible bigot with genocidal proclivities, despite his grand academic prowess.
Had he strictly kept his aim of demolition on the Ewes alone, I might be tempted to attribute his behavior to some particular reason of having been personally victimized by an Ewe, his wife, possibly, as a result of which he seeks perpetual vengeance against all Ewes.
But his distasteful, vicious tribal bashing and denigration have been extended to other ethnic or tribal groups as well. This indicates he has a deep-seated, visceral homophobia for which he may need serious psychiatric help.
The Prof. claims to have been raised by and around prominent Clergies. But his utter disdain for so many people who have done nothing directly to hurt him or his cause in life makes me wonder if his attitude is some delayed reaction of protest to the strict moral environment he might have grown up in.
What is more alarming about his behavior, now, though, is his potential to capture many vulnerable innocent, youthful minds to buy into his bigotry. Such was how the young in Kosovo and Bosnia and even Nazi Germany got corrupted to indulge in Genocide.
I hope, however, that Ghanaians would not fall for his faux-heroic delusions.
On the Ya-Na case, we all know the case was lost to the Government on technicalities--technicalities that could have been intentionally orchestrated to arrive at a loss to the State. I wish I had more time to explain that. It was more the poor performance of the State Prosecutors than any extraordinary effort by Atta Akyea that won the case for the defendants.

For a long time now, modern writers have used "each other" and "one another" interchangeably and it is fully allowed. You have to be excessive these days to insist that "one another" should ONLY be used to refer to three or more persons.
Even so, Okoampa still uses very old formulations and doesn't seem to be aware of the changes going on in the language especially across the Atlantic (from him) and even in his favourite area of punctuation. But on his use of "one another" here, he is very very right!!!
