Dear Milicent and other readers,
The problems of teachers are internal. Every 'sensible' group of professionals belong to organized groups. The leadership of such groups fight for the rights of their members.
For us, we have GNAT, CCT, Nagrat, Potag and Utag. What are all these about?
The MAJOR point of blame is GNAT. The leaders of GNAT are not teachers;they are completely IGNORANT of the problems facing teachers. Associations/unions for professionals are led by persons who are actively working in the field. By that, the leaders were the first to experience these problems and they jealously work for modalities to overcome them.
With GNAT, teachers in the field cannot compete for the leadership positions. GNAT executives are on a payroll that is different from that for teachers. They enjoy fatter salaries and other fringe benefits which teachers don't get. How can they speak for you?
Therefore, when you've a 'profession' manned by detached leaders, these are some of the problems you'll face. If teaching were a profession, what are the skills possessed by those you (Milicent) labelled as 'pupil teachers' to practise the profession?
Failure on the part of GES, GNAT and govt to streamline the teaching profession will continue to cause us these avoidable problems. With serious professions such as police service and nursing, govt responds to the pressure of their leaders.
Because you (Milicent and us (the other teachers) are led by detached leaders, we will continue to have these problems. GNAT is always flirting with govt because its leaders take huge salaries.
To solve the problems, we must re-organize our leadership and unite GNAT, CCT and Nagrat into one vibrant, pressure group.

The IPPD coordinator is not acting alone. He does it with the approval of the director. This guy disregard every teacher who has issues to settle with especial when it's to do with salary adjustmens.
He does everything with the greatest inpunity and gross disregard.
The most painful thing is that most of the teachers disrespectng are capable of being his supperiors .
more to come
