Thank you Tilapia, what a great educational, awareness and a timely warning to authorities to do the right thing before we are confronted with the ebola problem . God has been merciful to us so far we have not been confronted with that deadly disease.
As a country, we have not even been able to contain cholera since September last year that has killed 70 people with more than 5000 infected people in seven regions of Ghana with Ashanti and Volta regions where later cases of cholera infections have been recorded with two deaths in Volta region and one in Ashanti region.

17. Effective and aggressive "contact tracing" is what has slowed the EVD infection rate in Nigeria.
The thing is, screening for fever with those contact-free thermoscans is not foolproof. The incubation period of the virus is 2-21 days, which means, in theory, there might not be any fever or other symptoms for as many as three weeks after infection.
So the safest thing to do is to RECORD anybody who directly or indirectly (by checking the passport) enters Ghana from Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and perhaps Nigeria. Just as a precaution.

So point number 18 could be ABSTINENCE, even for married couples, when the first phase of EVD symptoms are present. (In the absence of a thermometer in the bedroom, a very warm body could be enough to raise suspicion).
This would not be easy though; we are not biologically wired for abstinence.

Ignorance and its twin sister, superstition, are, of course, two main cogs in the vicious cycle of underdevt. At the moment, they are both reigning supreme in Ghana, from the one man hamlet to the Castle/Flagstaff House.
