If a beaurecrat makes the wrong decision by approving the construction of a structure in a stupid area he/she should be charged for negligence and any other charges that could considered.
I agree with Nii Kankan of Osu to be given the authourity to manage his own jurisdiction so there should less hassle for the mayor worry about decentralise !

Stop the blame game and think of how best to handle disasters of this magnitude. This is not the hour of finger pointing, rather it is a time for national mourning. After that our best town planners and engineers should advise the AMA,the best way forward through a commission of enquiry. The stand taken by AFAG is irresponsible, the blame game is what has brought us to this disaster, enough is enough.Let us learn to work together.

AFAG challenges the President to present to the nation a drainage plan in the next three months. We also call on him to personally take a direct leadership role in addressing this problem..."
WE SAY: Good point!
BUT, there most be a Commission of Inquiry into the problem.
While we a no defender of Mr. Mahama just for the fun of it, the problem actually preceded President Mahama. And does no rest on just Kuffour's NPP either.
In particular, it goes back to Jerry Rawlings and his 1996 regime.
Mr. Jerry "Accountability" Rawlings borrowed from the World Bank $71,000,000 for fix the problem. The problem ought to have been properly prioritized, and at least half of that money ought to have been spent on the Accra problem.
READ THE RECORD:
WASHINGTON, March 26, 1996
WORLD BANK: Press Release No:96/20AFR
"....The Board of Directors of the World Bank today approved a $71,000,000 loan to Ghana to help fund a $89 million project to improve sanitation, storm drainage, and solid waste facilities in the major cities of Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi-Takoradi, Tema, and Tamale..."
($71,000,000 in 1996 would be worth as much as $108,610,110.75 today, in 2015, in today's money).
So, Jerry "Accountability" should show (explain to) Ghanaians exactly how his regime spent all that money, for what benefit, for whose benefit!
Let's get to the bottom!

What has the mayor got to do with this, when we all know that what has happen is unforseen and can happen at anyplace at any time if people who are doing thier work fail to do the right thing.
AFAG, must know that it take courage to say the truth for once.
