Folks let us lend Martin Amidu some hearing. At the heart of it he is fighting the cross-current of potent tyranny. Please have an open mind and carefully and thoroughly read and analyze what his writings are about. The basic thrust of his arguments is to mightily guard against the constitution of Ghana from covert gradual weakening and undermining for the purposes of destroying political opponents.
As citizens, you and I have nothing between us and tyranny except the constitution and if a dictatorial government can dilute its fundamental principles and institutions by engaging covert agencies to weaken those constitutional protections, it will do it, albeit, to keep itself in power. Already the NDC government is demonstrably showing that it has these tendencies in the way it is handling the constitutional reforms process by cherry picking which amendments it would like to forward to parliament for consideration whiles sitting on others that were collected by the Constitutional Reform Committee(CRC) from home and abroad. Wouldn't the prudent steps be submitting to the legislative body to deliberate on everything that we the people have put out there on their merits or demerits to make it to the final bill? Why is the government trying to shape and colour the outcome for us, whereas it is a vested party with its own selfish interests? Why almost 8 years and counting we do not have the Freedom to Information Act? What is there more to study or deliberate about; or is Ghana the first country to formulate the freedom of information bill?
What Martin Amidu is saying - and I get him - Anas and his company should do the proper thing by staying true to their stated mission, values and purpose as independent investigative organization free from governmental puppeteering manipulation and instrument against its perceived enemies by getting itself properly constituted and established, legally and factually. I don't disagree with that. Isn't it the case that so far not even a single government minister or its assigns have been exposed by Anas, it has always been peripheral agencies, organizations and institutions? How strange. Corrupt government ministers are not even trying to hide, they live their opulence in plain site.
Meanwhile people should pay close attention to the words Martin Amidu is using......the key operative word that started this round of discussion is "government commissioned" Anas to run a sting operation against the judiciary. Now some journalists started "throwing" into the mouth of Amidu, " government sponsored....." when in fact what he said was "government commissioned". There is a whole world of difference between "commissioned" and "sponsored". The two should not be confused.

Simply, the law (and fairness says) the PI cannot act with government to entrap another person.
That the PI (Tiger Eye and the other) is not a lawfully registered Non-Profit Company in Ghana, according to Mr. Amidu.
---One cannot hide behind a mask and profit, vice non-profit, public service, which we all assumed Tiger Eye PI was, until recently, when we found out the contrary information on their own website.
Readers can check out our 2 essays on this website (and on GhanHero.com/Visions.com, under Prof Lungu Says), titled "Get Up -Anas Judgement Day Has Arrived.

There is surely more to this than meets the eye.
Any association of Anas with government, whether as a sponsor or commissioner, compromises his stand. Where the government is a partisan one in a society where both sides of the political divide comprise corrupt elements, this association cannot be a neutral one. The commissioning (or sponsoring?) authority will use the findings to its advantage which will not necessarily coincide with the interests of the nation.
Anas has more questions to answer. Is his company legally registered in Ghana? Was he issued a government service passport and under what conditions if he is only a private citizen? Can he make his tax declarations public (since we can't find this out legally because FOIB is not active)?
Much as we like his exposure of the corrupt justices and judicial workers, the fight against corruption cannot be selective or used as a vendetta against particular groups whiles leaving other equally corrupt entities intact. The fight cannot also be used as a political weapon for partisan interests.
We must know more things...

Whatever Mr. Amidu has written today has nothing to do with the issue as to whether the judges implicated in Anas's investigations engaged in corrupt practices or not.
He appears to make the rather strange assertion that the government sponsored Anas, or that his company is not properly registered. All these ought not disturb.a renowned citizen vigilante like Mr. Amidu.
Anas has done a good job notwithstanding who sponsored him or of what legal status his investigative body is. All citizens have the obligation to expose corruption by all means necessary no matter where it is found.
If Mr. Amidu finds more corruption in government, he is entitled to expose same by all means possible.
But to say that Anas's exposure is a subterfuge for gargantuan corruption in government is rather naive.
To expose that gargantuan corruption remains the unfinished business of all good citizens, including Mr. Amidu. And the fact that it remains endemic does not diminish the good efforts of Anas, no matter the status of his company or the entity that sponsored him.

But this is all besides the point. I have respected Mr. Amidu all my life and written to endorse his stance on corruption. But on this issue, he is in bed with those corrupt judges.
What has the judicial corruption exposed by Anas got to do with who sponsored Anas, or whether his company is properly registered? Tell me.

"All citizens have the obligation to expose corruption by all means necessary no matter where it is found."
Agreed. But if a partisan government has sponsored/commissioned Anas to expose corruption, then Anas is really not performing a disinterested citizen's obligation, much as we may like the results of his work. Anas may not want to bite the hand that feeds him even if that hand is, itself, dripping with corruption.
Right now, Amidu is saying govt's hands are behind the thing. Anas says no or has defined the manner in which govt comes in to his work. Ghanaians need to know the exact truth. This matter can define the way we fight corruption.

All of us can also seek sponsorship anywhere to fight corruption within the government.
We must quickly endorse Anas's work and proceed to use similar methods to expose the other arms of the government. Anas cannot do everything, but at least he has done something.
The fight against corruption will be stunted if we argue like Mr. Amidu who is arguing illogically that government is diverting attention from corruption within itself by exposing corruption within the judiciary. The judiciary is also an arm of the government. Anas has investigated one arm of the government. Others may continue with the other arms.

I cannot believe that Martin Amidu is claiming the judicial scandal exposed by Tiger Eye PI is a vendetta against the Chief Justice and the Judiciary. That is ridiculous. Kwaku Baako has a soft side for women in high public office and would not be party TO anything that will undermine this Chief Justice. In any case, what exactly IS the true objectives of Amidu for taking on Tiger Eye PI? Is it part of his anti-corruption campaign? Is any of the the judges involved in the exposure by Tiger Eye PI a friend, an acquaintance of Mr Amidu?
Even if Tiger Eye PI is an illegal entity, profit making organisation or sponsored by the state, is the outcome of the their work not in the public interest? Is it not part of the anti-corruption crusade? Is Amidu on the side of the judges or the state? Is it his case that because Tiger Eye PI is an illegal entity the corrupt judges should not be punished?
The argument that corruption is endemic in all the three arms of government (the Executive, Legislature and the Judiciary), so one should not be singled out despite the evidence does not make sense, particularly when it is coming from the person fighting corruption.

I don't think Amidu is arguing that one should not single out one arm of govt because all the arms are corrupt. He is rather arguing that there's evidence for the corruption in the other arms too and these must be exposed as well. He thinks there may be some sinister motive behind Anas stopping only at the judiciary.
If Amidu is right that there is evidence for corruption in the other arms, then his argument is right and such evidence should not be sat on. I think that is what he means by picking and choosing, not that the judicial evidence should not be made use of.
Anas has denied that there is such evidence and that he is not sitting on anything. Obviously, one of them is lying (indeed both of them could be lying) and we need to know the truth, all the truth!
The eventual goal should be that the unearthing of corruption within the judiciary should not stop there - it should encompass the other arms too.

Godd, Martin Amidu's aim in this particular feud is not about fighting political corruption but rather to discredit Tiger Eye PI and its work. He is now engaging in self-destructive campaign that would damage his reputation as a vigilante anti-corruption campaigner. As in my first comment, even if this or that, the public interest in what Tiger Eye PI exposed is such that no one can discredit the work. I will encourage Ghanaians to read the majority decision of the latest Supreme Court ruling on Prof Kwaku Asare V The Attorney General (on the Constitutional Amendment case). The five Justices relied heavily on the words "public interest" (though not exclusively)to dismiss the case of the plaintiff.
Regarding Martin's allegation that Tiger Eye is covering up investigations into the Legislature, that cannot be correct because Kwaku Baako told the whole world about that investigations on Newsfile. The reason Tiger Eye has given for not releasing the video is acceptable. In the midst of the storm following that of the judicial scandal, who in his right mind will release another video? I hope the video is released before the general elections in November 2016 so that voters could be guided by what they see.

The public sympathy is clearly on Anas' side. If in his work he may have done a few things incorrectly, Amidu should only seek to correct him, not destroy him. Amidu is much older than he is and he shouldn't be fighting him. It's not Ghanaian!
Many people may be critical of certain aspects of Anas work (myself included) but the overall effect of his work is positive and we shouldn't forget that.
This case is not finished.

What Amidu is saying is that, 1) Tiger PI is an illegal organization - it does not exist in the eyes of the law, which means it is not incorporated or registered to operate as a private eye, 2) Tiger PI is commissioned (not sponsored) by government to undertake undercover operations, and because government is a self-seeking establishment the outcome of Tiger PI expose would be used for the wrong purpose.
If Ghanaians are able to establish these two factors, 1) Tiger PI as an illegal entity, (unincorporated) and 2) Tiger PI was commissioned by government (not Parliament, but the Presidency) then there is a fact in evidence (factum) to support Amidu's allegations.

Do you think Anas' reason for not releasing his expose of the corrupt Legislature video is plausible? You should notice that Martin Amidu kept referring to the Constitution throughout his treatise as the Constitution is the guiding principle of how we treat fellow Ghanaians.
Yes, in the eyes of the people, Anas and his team are doing a masterful job in exposing the corrupt elements in society, but at what cost? Does it sound proper when an illegal organization uses illegal means to expose crime? If this is the case, why did we spend thousands of cedis to promulgate a constitution? Can you answer this question for me. Whey can't the citizens of Ghana defend the Constitution?

Of course Amidu appreciates the exposure of the rot in the judiciary but what of the rot elsewhere? He contends there is a lot more out there that should be made public but cannot be done just so the sponsor is protected. Tiger Eye did a great job but they should go a step further and bite off the hand that fed it. Are they able to do so? No. This taints Tiger Eye big time and forms the gist of Amidu's argument.

Martin Amidu and those who choose to subscribe to his one man vigilance ought to hang their heads in shame if Martin is making a claim based on principles. First it is a right under the laws of Ghana for anyone to report to the appropriate authorities acts of moral turpetude if one should choose to do so. There are no laws that voids reports of criminal activities by a member of society because of past criminal convictions or pending civil case against the person making the report or complaint. But it is even damming of Martin Amidu who should know but chooses to be disingenuous to talk about principles when his tenure in the AG office and that of every occupant of Ghana's AG office has been built on selective prosecution of political opposition members.
Martin Amidu should list names of anyone in the NDC who was dragged through our infamous legal system by an NDC government on charges of bribery and corruption and anyone in the NPP who faced bribery and corruption charges under Kufour's NPP administration. Even in the best of tradition the NPP and NDC choose to throw around claims of mismanagement or causing financial loss to the nation on members of opposition parties not based on principled best practices and procedures but on political witchhunt exercise. As Anas said in his rebuttal to Martin Amidu's claim that Tiger Eye not being a duly registered company in Ghana Martin Amidu could have listed any attempts by him in the AG offices or thereafter in his vigilante crusade where he exposed and or went after all the illegal corporate operations in Ghana? But after all is said and done the work product of Anas is not negated by law; they were conducted by Anas entitled to rights as a citizen of Ghana even if he may not make claim credit of the project under Tiger Eye. Furthermore are employees of the government not engaged by government in whole or agents of government when they conduct research and or investigations when not licensed to engage in criminal investigation except for those in government institutions with jurisdiction? Shame on you Martin Amidu because you have brought spotlight on the destructive jealousy that eats at the inner core of Ghanaians that has brought a halt to acts of wisdom and or developmental progress to this once great nation.

Now, what is Amidu questioning? lets not lose the plot.
1. Did Anas investigate parliament? Yes or NO?
2. if yes, where is that report?
3. why was it not released?
4. is it because Mahama is covering up political corruption?
5. why was the judicial corruption the only released one? is it a vendetta to get the CJ out?
6. Did Atta Mills commission for all the arm of government?
7. If yes, where is that for the executive? was it done? if no why was it not done?
Martin is saying something Ghanaians should listen to. if what he says is true it means Mahama fearing the expose on the exec could expose him has suppressed the Atta Mills commission.
