What a sad situation we find ourselves in! It appears we are incapable of managing anything. We have sat down and watched all our resources deteriorate. We have not been able to add value to our primary products. Now we are losing our rivers and waterbodies too. My question is, what are we capable of doing for ourselves? What a hopeless nation we have become!

Mr Kofi,
You want to know what Ghanaians have been able to do for themselves? Come to Fubai.
If you are able to win the confidence of some realtors, they will show you edifices Ghanaians have been able to buy for themselves. We in Dubai have even begun to hate them, for they are
inflating the prices of desirable residences here.
We ask: did they pay tax on this money they are bringing to buy houses?
How can Ghana's treasury strengthen its currency if such large sums of money are leaving Ghana's shores by unconventional means?
That is why you will never get money to see to your needs, such as water.

A story like this and many others we hear in Ogyakrom always conjure memories of a lot of things Dr. Nkrumah of blessed memory said. For instance, was Nkrumah right when he said: "The Blackman is capable of managing his own affairs", or it was a misguided presumption and wishful thinking. You see, there was no proof to that statement in any part of Africa or the Caribbeans when he made that declaration.
Dr. Nkrumah also said the following: "As far as I am concerned, I am in the knowledge that death can never extinguish the torch which I have lit in Ghana and Africa. Long after I am dead and gone, the light will continue to burn and be born aloft, giving light and guidance to all people."
Were these two statements borne out of capriciousness or the euphoria of becoming a new independent nation? Can we seriously trust the blackman with nation building? We must ask these serious question about our genetic makeup, because it is not reasonable for the whole continent to exhibit the same pattern of behaviour - it is mind boggling to say the least.

The British and Nkrumah taught us a little bit of modesty and humility then we foolishly abandoned that and opted for the American brash and greed is good attitude. We have copied them blindly from our bogus American-style constitution to the the fraudulent election primaries and all the nonsense that goes with it. Why blame the Noble and down to earth Kwame Nkrumah?
