President Akufo Addo curses Ghana?

What is this issue flying on all our social media platforms? That the President hints of his government's readiness to legalise same sex marriage in Ghana? I watch the video with shock, the responses of the president. Is this what Ghanaians bargained for?

Now, read what former President John Dramani Mahama said on the same subject at the Scottish Parliament and juxtapose it with what President Akufo Addo said in an interview with Aljazeera.

"My country is a secular one made up of Christians, Muslims and traditional believers. None of these sects accept gayism and lesbianism. As a leader once the people I rule abhor these things, I cannot accept these cultures on the grounds of human rights. Despite our challenges, our nation stands paramount against any other foreign aim,"

Elsewhere in the world, the activities of individuals and groups ..... certain awareness, certain developments grew and grew and grew stronger and it forced a change in law. Clearly, one can deduce that the first response comes from a gem and an impeccable genius. A strong leader with character and readiness to protect and defend the sanctity of his country.

If H.E President Akufo Addo does not have the balls to make such a strong case, he should have been smart enough to talk of Free SHS, one district one factory, GhanaPostGPS etc, because this has been his government's mantra all this while.

He went on a trip in which he touted so loud, his agenda of "Ghana beyond aid". One would have thought that it would have emboldened him and give him the urge to make a strong case and affirm the position of his predecessor.

But come to think of it, his responses coupled with commentary from his close confidants, like Garby Asare-Otchere Darko gives one a good reason to believe that this administration has a well planned agenda to legalise homosexuality. God forbid...!

The President by his response also gives directions to homosexuals what to do to serve as a bait to lure Ghanaians into believing that his government is succumbing to pressure from within and without. What he forgot was that Ghanaians are too smart to be fooled. Can someone tell him that he got it all wrong?

The three major religious bodies in this country, and our values and cultures frown on this act, and our laws in principle are also against it. So why do we even talk about it let alone think of legalising it. Is this the promise of "One Bible, One Qur'an"?

Ghanaians must rise up to resist this with all our might. It is time yet again, to see our Civil Society groups, Pastors, Imams, etc, to tune high their microphones to speak against this wicked agenda of the Akufo-Addo government, just as they did some few year back when the discussion raised it head.

The loud silence of these groups and bodies on issues of national interest in recent times is worrying. It begs to understand as to whether the current government is sacred and even when they commit sins it is considered divine. On this subject matter, we expect them disappoint doubtful minds who believe that it will be business as usual.

May the good Lord bless and protect our country from the hands of wicked and tyrants and make our nation grow greater and stronger.
