I have no personal vendetta against Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

Many a Ghanaian has begun to think as though I have a personal score to settle with the Asante “Overlord”, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. No, I have no personal vendetta against him. He is my former London “burger” colleague and my traditional head somehow. It is just that I have a passionate hatred for his resolute determination to perpetrate corrupt practices to the detriment of Ghanaians and Ashantis in general, and the natives of Kumawuman in particular.

People should not get me wrong. The fact that I have taken him on in my fight to ensure that he does not arrogate to himself certain powers he has absolutely no constitutional and/or conventional rights, does not mean that I am settling a personal score with him. He does not know me in person so do I. We have not crossed paths. He has not usurped any girlfriend of mine from me as he does to some people so why should I have a problem with him if it were not his intransigent desire to rob the stool lands and the wealth of Kumawuman in a broad daylight, by colluding with Kumawuhemaa and almost all the ignorant Asanteman chiefs as well as that puppet Kumawuhene he has criminally imposed on us?

From his conducts and posture, he is a bully and a lover of corruption. I have no problem with him where he defecates but to do so in my very own backyard, there will be a problem. With all my knowledge of Kumawu history, both orally acquired and tediously researched, why should I keep mute for him to claim ownership of vast tracts of Kumawu stool lands whereas he has not the least right to do so?

Many a friend of mine is asking me to let go whatever Asantehene is doing but I shall never until death does take me away. However, since I am in the right and have the support of God as his vessel to exposing and fighting Asantehene, no weapon formed against me shall prevail. It is by that absurd attitude of “enye hwee, fa ma Nyame” by most Ghanaians that our politicians, traditional chiefs and even foreigners like the Chinese and Nigerians continually take us for fools and exploit us to the hilt or do oppress us in in own land of birth.

Until Asantehene backs away from his interference in the Kumawu chieftaincy affairs because of what he stands to gain which is no secret to me, the fight still continues unabated. He may feel powerful and have the backing of some equally senseless and corrupt politicians and police and military personnel, God is mightier than all his accomplices put together so I fear no foe. The bible tells us to resist the devil and he shall flee.

Asantehene should go back to learn the Ashanti history and the demands made of the then Asante chiefs before Kumawuhene Barima Tweneboa Kodua I offered himself as a sacrificial lamb to save the Ashantis and their Confederacy from destructive and murderous attacks on them by then most powerful and fearsome Denkyirahene Nana Ntim Gyakari. He should also enquire about the position and status of Kumawuman within the then Asante Confederacy until today that the senseless, naive and extremely corrupt Kumawuhemaa Nana Abenaa Serwaah Amponsah has permitted all the criminalities and exploitations Asantehene is inflicting on Kumawuman.

Does Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II remember how and why he destooled Juasohene Barima Safrotwei Sarpong II enstooled by Juabenhene Nana Otuo Serebour II in 1998? He said, there were no Kontrihene and Akwamuhene present during his enstoolment hence his installation as Juasohene was against Asante tradition and custom hence he could not be accepted as such? In that of Kumawu, were the Kontrihene and Akwamuhene present? NO!!! Let Asantehene understand that what is good for the goose is also good for the gander.

Additionally, he has absolutely no right to meddle in Kumawuman affairs. If he thinks he is more powerful in Ghana because the Presidents and the Ministers succumb to his demands and prostrate to him, we shall see when the wrath of God descends upon him and I sharpen my pen. He had better backtrack, I advise.

Apart from God, let all those advising me to stop what I am doing to let Asantehene have his criminal way, understand one thing. They should understand how true what Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia once said. He said, “Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better; the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most; that has made it possible for evil to triumph”. Why should I keep silence for Asantehene’s evilness against Kumawuman to flourish and ramify?

For those choosing to be cowards hence are indirectly supporting the criminalities Asantehene is effectuating in Kumawuman, l leave them with the following sayings by Mark Twain, “In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his course succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot" and Martin Niemöller,

“First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a communist;

Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist;

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist;

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not a Jew;

Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak out for me”.
