This is a very dicey issue, it can easily be blown out of proportion, politicians can make mountains out of this anthill, let’s be circumspect. This is a situation where no stands are right or wrong.

Permit me to quote Late Dr Chuba Okadibgo "If you are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning, to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless, your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments you are a liability to mankind"

A wise man once told me, that I should have an opinion about everything, but I should know which ones to express and how to and which ones not to express. I think We just need to understand ourselves. But, wait; must everything always be in Accra? How about decongesting our Capital City? Even if it must be in Accra, cant it be in the location where no building will be pulled down? well, these are questions my late grandmother whispered to me in my dreams to ask, they are not my own; funny, isn't it? Yes, we are scared to talk about religious issues for the fear of the known. We all love our parties and whoever we owe our allegiance or loyalty to; but we should be able to ask the questions, we need to seek answers to these questions.

You see, we want to defend this architectural edifice with every arsenal we’ve got and we want to equally oppose it with every arsenal we’ve got as well. Which ever stands we choose or make on this issue, it can be justified.

Well, assuming without admitting that it’s private funds that will be used for this great and magnanimous edifice, then that leads me to ask “do you also remember, the good book also says, whatever you do to the least of my brothers you do unto me, when I was hungry you gave me food to eat, when I was thirsty you gave water to drink ....But you see, development is not carried out in a linear sequence, it can be tackled multifaceted. And so, yes, we can’t solve all of our problems at once; but have you clothed your brother, have given food to the hungry and who will be worshipping at the cathedral? It’s the-same brethren who have these predicaments. Don’t forget, people matter; you matter.

Let love lead; for it is the greatest of all the commandments, obedience and not sacrifice. We live. We will say what we can; what we can’t, we will continue to think about it and debate it in our minds and hearts.

Unfortunately, the composition of the committee to oversee the cathedral project is so rich and “security” tight to the extent, that if you are not careful and dare speak against them and the project, then you become the devil’s advocate, his incarnate!

Don’t forget; we will also say, there is a national mosque funded by the Turkish government and Ghana Government only provided the land. And If you try doing this equalization by bringing in the National mosque, we will say you are preaching sectionalism. But you see, that’s the way of the world! Isn’t it?

We will come saying, Run to the Cross, take hold of the bleeding Lamb of God: He is the only Way to Salvation. If you say, we need jobs, we need schools and hospitals, do you know what we will tell you? We will conclude; For what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?

Followers will groan, roar, subdue and pounce on you; you will become the midnight meal they haven’t had in decades.

Well, it may be a long walk towards reclaiming and reviving the lost symbol; thus, “addressing a missing link in Ghana’s architecture”

But you see, is the cathedral really going to be a place of worship or a place for important national gatherings? Let the light illuminate our paths, that we may not be lost but become worthy of the light we pursue. Ultimately, that time will come, the foretold and untold confirms it. What is written is written.

Let the Christians build our cathedrals, let the Muslims build our mosques, let the traditionalists build our shrines. Am I wrong or right should I say this? Well, don’t give me an answer, just think about it; sleep on a well-crafted pillow and you will have a right answer. Funny enough, for this question, No answer is wrong though.

One of the problems of Africa, is Religion, but you know what, it’s broad. Rather, let’s say, it’s the way we practice Religion in Africa that makes it one of the problems of Mama Africa.

You cant have a rainbow without a little rain, people will oppose you, they will talk so tread, tread and tread cautiously!
