President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will for the second time this year, address Ghanaians on some key national issues in the country on Wednesday.

A statement from the government Tuesday explained the engagement, dubbed Meet-the-Press, is in furtherance of the president’s desire to continuously engage with the Ghanaian people through the media.

The event which will take place at 10:30am at the Jubilee House in Accra will also see President Nana Akufo-Addo respond to a wide range of questions on recent development from the media.

At his first Meet-the-Press in July 2017, Nana Akufo-Addo promised to engage journalists in the country every six months to respond to issues and concerns to arise out of his governance of the nation.

The first event for this year was subsequently held on January 19, 2018

Wednesdays’ event is likely to reignite some of the controversial decisions and contracts signed by the government that dominated public discourse in the country for weeks, which some argued smacked of corruption.

Journalists are likely to ask questions on some of these issues which includes but not limited to the re-negotiated AMERI deal that led to the dismissal of former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko, and the Kelni GVG deal which critics claimed was tainted by fraud.

Others are the controversial 12.5 million-dollar drone contract that was passed by majority-sided parliament despite criticism over the cost involved among other concerns raised by some key stakeholders including the Ghana Medical Association.

The event will be a great opportunity for Nana Akufo-Addo to, for the first time, speak on the drone project to be undertaken by a US-based firm, Zipline International Inc.
