Coronavirus cases rise to 95,992 in Kenya, as 98 more people recover

Kenya’s Ministry of Health on Monday announced that 69 more people had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing to 95,992 the number of confirmed infections in the country.

The additional cases are from a sample size of 1,987 tested in the last 24 hours.

From the cases, 53 are Kenyans while 16 are foreigners; 40 are males and 29 females. The youngest is a three-year-old child while the oldest is 86 years old.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, in a statement to newsrooms, said that 98 patients recovered from the disease – 77 from the home-based care programme while 21 were discharged from various hospitals – bringing total recoveries to 77,521.

Six people however succumbed to coronavirus bringing the cumulative fatalities to 1,664.

According to CS Kagwe, there are 673 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide and 3,386 on home-based isolation and care.

Out of those in hospital, 34 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 17 of whom are on ventilator support, 13 are on supplemental oxygen, while others are on observation.
