The over 50-year-old dump site has been piled creating unpleasant stench for residents
The District chief executive officer for Sekyre South District Assembly, Madam Catherine Reckling has called on the electorates in the area to collaborate effectively with the Assembly to ensure a waste-free district.
Madam Reckling said she will spur a healthy living and bring development to the area.
“If people have jobs and food but are dying from waste, what do we tend to gain?” she inquires
Madam Reckling was speaking to the press at an event to convey six different dump sites in Jamasi.
The exercise, which is a collaborative effort between the Assembly and the residents of Jamasi living abroad will last over two weeks.
The over 50-years-old dump site has been piled creating unpleasant stench for residents.
The cost for the clearing of the dump sites is pecked at two hundred thousand cedis (200,000 cedis).
Residents working and living abroad have committed 140,000 cedis into the exercise out of the total amount.
After the exercise, Madam Reckling said waste containers would be provided to the residents for effective and proper sanitation system.
The commitment to the Assembly is a way of giving back to the society.
They said based on their experience outside the country, it is a must for them to improve sanitation situation in Jamasi town.
The indigenes living broad say, they are committed to helping to the assembly address many challenges affecting Jamasi town.
