Herbalist produces drug to treat Buruli ulcer

Abuakwa (Ash), Jan 25, GNA- Universal Diet and Herbal Clinic at Abuakwa-Abaase near Kumasi, claims it has produced a highly potent drug that could treat Buruli Ulcer.
The Reverend Samuel Asiamah, Managing Director of the Clinic, who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency, said the drug was yet to be approved by the Ministry of Health.
He said the drug had been used to treat over 40 patients at his clinic.
Touching on nutrition, Rev Asiamah called on Ghanaians to eat soyabeans to improve on their health.
Rev Asiamah said raw porridge prepared from soyabeans powder contained 43 per cent protein, 22 per cent fat and 26.5 per cent carbohydrates whereas corn porridge contained between seven to eight per cent protein, five per cent fat and 79 per cent carbohydrates.
He said cassava mixed with soyabeans flour to prepare 'fufu' contained 21 per cent protein, eight per cent fat and 56 per cent carbohydrates as against 2.2 per cent proteins, 3.8 per cent fat and 8.5 per cent carbohydrates contained in 'fufu' prepared solely from cassava.
"Soyabeans added to corn to prepare 'banku' contains 25 per cent protein, eight per cent fat and 56 per cent carbohydrates as against the eight per cent protein, 4.5 per cent fat and 79 per cent carbohydrates in corn added to cassava to prepare banku".
