The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with One Ghana Movement, will distribute 40 waste bins to schools in an effort to educate students on the values of waste segregation.
In this direction, the One Ghana Movement on Wednesday donated the bins to support NCCE’s project on good sanitation practices in schools.
Madam Josephine Nkrumah, NCCE Chairperson, in a statement during the donation, acknowledged the support of the One Ghana Movement to the agenda of the NCCE.
She said the NCCE, as part of its citizenship week celebrations this year on the theme: “A clean Ghana Our Responsibility,” was able to educate basic schools on the need to value the essence of waste segregation.
To support the agenda, Madam Nkrumah said, the One Ghana Movement donated the 40 waste bins to be distributed to schools in and around the Greater Accra Metropolitan areas, adding that, two schools had already benefitted from the donation.
She said schools committed to the culture of waste segregation would receive the waste bins.
According to Emily Kanyir Nyuur, Executive Secretary of One Ghana Movement, the organization was already engaged on a sanitation project under the “Adopt Bin campaign” and was glad to partner the NCCE to inculcate values of waste segregation and educating the younger generation on keeping the environment clean.
She said plastic waste was a big problem and encouraged Ghanaians to practice waste segregation.
