Rebecca Foundation rounds up 4-day regional medical outreach in Nabdam

The Rebecca Foundation will today, Thursday, round up activities of its Medical Outreach at Nangodi in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.

After 3 straight days of medical screening and treatment for the people of three Districts in the region, the team has pitched camp in Nangodi to offer same service to the Nabdams.

The Team has, in the past days, been to districts including the Kasena-Nankana West, Bawku West and the Builsa South District.

As at 10 am today, procedures to examine the people for conditions including Hepatitis, Malaria, Diabetes and hypertension and according give counselling and medication for the various ailments had begun earnestly.

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Agnes Anamoo, who received the team of doctors, Nurses and laboratory assistants, highlighted some of the health challenges of her people and urged the doctors to assist them.

She assured the team of the district's support, with a call on the women, children and the aged folk to participate in the health screening.

"We are glad to receive you in our district today. As a matter of fact, my people especially the women have been anticipating your visit long ago. Some of them sometimes come here to ask when the team of doctors will arrive to screen them and so it's good that you have finally come to our district"

"I'm sure the people will use this opportunity to tell you all their health problems so that you can assist them in every way that you can".

" We appreciate this kind gesture of our First Lady and we are appealing to her to make this regular for our people".

"As for support, I and my district will give you every help you need to make sure this is successful. I have spoken with the health directorate, district director, health workers and even the NABCo personnel to all assist in the screening exercise", the DCE assured.

Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Area, who has organized similar Screening exercises in the past for his constituents, praised the First Lady for her effort in bringing good health services to the people and her role in the development of the health sector.

According to him, the district which has no hospital and resident doctors greatly appreciates the kind initiative of Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo.

He gave assurance of his support for the "great initiative", adding that he will support anything that will bring development and ease the suffering of his people irrespective of political colours.

He said: "Yes, the doctors were surprised to know that I am an opposition MP but we are a common people. The development and betterment of the people is what we seek and politics. We have come together as a team for the good of the people."

He appealed to the foundation to spread the outreach to other communities in the region where the people do not have access to good health services.
