The surest way to reducing cervical cancer is to cut down on your numerous sexual partners or risk your lives.
This is a passionate appeal being made by former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings in this cancer month.
Although this month has been reserved to create awareness on breast cancer, cervical cancer is the leading cause of death among women followed by breast cancer
Cervical cancer is caused by the Human Papiloma Virus which causes the cells in the cervix to grow and replicate in an abnormal and uncontrolled way
However, the high publicity of breast cancer has overshadowed the dangers accustomed with cervical cancer usually because it develops very slowly for several years.
As a passionate campaigner against women cancers, Nana Konadu appealed to both men and women to reduce their sexual partners so that the cancer can be curtailed.
“It’s a behavioral thing so we have to cut back on the number of sex partners we have to be able to deal with it” she added.
Beyond that, she also encouraged women to go for regular checks in order for early detection of breast cancer.
