Tutco Dem. JHS wins maiden edition of National Core Subject Quiz ROCAST

Agricultural Labour Services Agency (ALSA) hosted the maiden edition of the NCSQuiz Reach out Competition and Schools Tour (NCSQuiz ROCAST), which was held on from 3rd to 4th October 2019 in the Upper West Region.

The NCSQuiz ROCAST is an educational event with the aim of reaching out to some selected schools in remote communities in Ghana to engage them in quiz competitions on the core subjects to spur and encourage them to take their studies serious and embark on schools tour in the same community to interact with the various schools and also give them some branded educational materials by the host company and sponsors.

The maiden edition which was held at the Assembly hall of Tumu Senior High and Technical School witnessed the participation of six (6) Junior High Schools from the Sisala East and West districts with 3 schools from each part.

Schools who took part in the quiz which was streamed live on Radford Radio 107.5 FM included, Tutco Demonstration JHS, Wuljua JHS, St. Gabriel's JHS, Pulima JHS, Sorbelle JHS and T.I Ahmadiya JHS.

At the end of the competition which featured questions from all the core subjects, Tutco Dem. JHS were winners with Wuljua JHS taking the 2nd position as St. Gabriel's JHS took the 3rd position.

The winner of the quiz competition Tutco Dem. JHS was awarded a cash price of 2,000 cedis, branded educational materials and agricultural inputs for their farming. The second best school at the quiz competition was awarded a cash price of 1,500 Ghana cedis with some branded educational materials and agricultural inputs for their farming whiles, the 3rd best school was awarded a cash price of 1,000 Ghana cedis with branded educational materials and some agricultural inputs for their farming from ALSA. All the participating schools received brand educational materials from ALSA.

Member of Parliament for the Sisala East Constituency, Hon. Ridwan Dauda who graced the occasion pledged a Desktop computer to the winning school, Tutco Dem. JHS and also expressed delight at the event which will motivate and leave a lasting impact on the schools that participated and their studies in general.

He encouraged that more of such programs be held to motivate the students to take their studies serious and pass their BECE with distinction.

Mr Seidu Nanundow the Operations Manager at ALSA was also happy at the outcome of the event and was glad they hosted such a great event to inspire the students and to also give back to farming communities in the Sisala East and West Districts with whom they have a long-standing relationship.

The Zonal Supervisor- Sisala Maize Zone, Mr Edward Kolog noted that the outcome of the quiz was more than they expected by the testimonies the teachers and students who participated gave after the competition.
