Ghana Health Service honours Dr Awoonor-Williams

Even if we as a country named a region after Awoonor-Williams, it still would not be enough for what he has done. He is an intellectual giant, everything about him is taking health services globally beyond the ordinary. He is a gift to Africa. Even though I have never met him, I have heard so much about his good works in Ghana and outside Ghana. I was in Germany when some of his great works were being projected on a screen at an international health summit on the SDGs. I asked if he was around at the summit but was told he wasn't. They said he had been a major reference point for several international summits regardless of being present or absent. I was so proud as a Ghanaian. The last time I felt so proud as a Ghanaian was when Kofi Annan became the UN Secretary-General. Congratulations to Awoonor-Williams. He deserves far more. Congrats.
