Multi demolish Citizens in 13 Goals Thriller

The Beverage Investments Ghana Limited sponsored Greater Accra Pepsi Hockey League entered the 20th Week with 7 matches on Saturday, November 16, 2002; 5 in the Men’s Division, 1 in the Ladies’ Division and 1 in the Juvenile Division.

In the battle of the oldies, Multistix demolished Citizens by 9 goals to 4 in their 70 minutes thriller. Multi raced into a 3-0 lead by the 15th minute with a double strike from the league’s top scorer Eric (Dada) Mainoo and 1 from Ato Hagan. Citizens re-grouped and in the process hit the backboard in the 17th minute from the stick of Albert (Prof) Ofori to reduce the tally to 3-1. Multi restored their 3 goal lead through Dada in the 19th minute and in the process incurred the wrath of Citizens who stepped-up their game to level up in a 5 minute blitz through Agbeko (22 and 25) and Lomo-Mainoo (27). Multi restored their lead with an Ato Hagan goal in the 29th minute to end the half.

The second half was almost a one-way traffic as Multi altered their game plan and cut the Citizens midfield and defense off with some tight marking. The Multi midfield took full control of the game and set the stage for a completion of the demolishing job with 4 goals from Akpokavie (39 and 52), Kester Ajao (64) and Aryeetey (65).

Exchequers and CEPS Battle to a 0-0 Draw

CEPS put up a spirited performance to hold Exchequers of Bank of Ghana to a pulsating 0-0 drawn game at the National Hockey Pitch. The match was fast and thrilling and lived-up to the billing of the top liner for the day. With this result, the league championship race has been thrown wide open with Marine Sticks vying for the top honours. The league continues on November 23 2002 with 7 matches
