The Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Frimpong Boateng has not been declared wanted by the police at the behest of President Akufo-Addo.
A statement with the letterhead of the Communications Directorate at the Jubilee House making the rounds on social media suggested that the President has ordered for the arrest of the chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining.
But government has disregarded the document, describing it as fake news.
An ongoing investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police service regarding the illegal sale of confiscated excavators has led to the arrest of suspended NPP Vice-chairman of the Central region, Ekow Ewusi.
