Voting processes to elect new Assembly members and unit committee members for the Kasena-Nankana Municipal and West District have commenced but on a slow pace morning of election day despite the early start of polls.

Worse affected are the polling stations in farming communities.

As at the time of filing this report, polling stations within the areas had not recorded up to 50 votes each.

The usual huge queues synonymous with election processes in the country is not felt at the polling stations in the Assembly elections.

Elections officials in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality, who commented on the turnout off record, say the slow pick could be as a result of the election day coinciding with the market say in Navrongo.

They also said activities of the dry season farming which are common in the Municipality could be a contributory factor.

They have, however, expressed optimism in the process picking up in the afternoon when farmers would return from their farms to rest.

Aside the slow response to the elections, there have not been issues of disturbances or irregularities so far recorded at any of the polling stations.
