Power consumers are to enjoy more stable power supply as Atuabo gas plant resumes operation.

The plant was shut down last week for a ten- day mandatory maintenance works.

There were concerns the shutdown would send the country back to power rationing due to deficiency in generation as a result of inadequate gas supply to the Aboadze Thermal plant.

However even before the 10-day period elapses, Starr News understands the gas plant is ready to resume operations.

Chief Executive Officer for Ghana Gas, Dr. George Sepah Yankey told Starr News this is the last time Ghana gas will shutdown.

“All the major works that need to be done have been done and hopefully by the end of today or tomorrow, I’m confident we will finish before the ten-day we gave to the public. Let me assure you, the power situation is being resolved and has always been resolved and we are going to enjoy stable power supply from now onwards, the Akosombo is rising and this is the last time Ghana gas is going to shutdown, we don’t want to shut down again.

"We are building a serial converter station so that when the one that we are operating is due for servicing, the new one that is being installed will be operating while we service this one,” he said.
