Bawumia ‘hit hard’ by death of ‘great’ CK Tedam

Tributes are pouring in thick and fast after news of the death of governing New Patriotic Party’s National Council Chairman, Clement Kubindiwor Tedam affectionately called CK Tedam, ABC News Ghana has monitored.

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has joined thousands of people to express their condolences after the news of CK Tedam’s death went viral.

He described the late National Council Chair of the New Patriotic party as a great man who epitomised wisdom, humility and loyalty.

In a tweet on his twitter handle minutes after the news hit him, Vice President Dr Bawumia expressed his grief saying, “I have received with sadness the death of our father and venerable statesman Mr. Clement Kubindiwor Tedam affectionately called C.K Tedam. He epitomised honesty, loyalty, humility, wisdom and was a source of inspiration to me and anyone who was privileged to know him.”

The Vice President concluded his tweet by calling on Ghanaians and members of the NPP to appreciate the life of CK Tedam.

“This is a life to be celebrated. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace” he stated in a tweet.

Among the Party’s leadership who have expressed their condolences is the National Organiser, Sammi Awuku.

“You Served Your Nation and Party With Distinction! Rest In Peace Grandpa CK Tedam!” he said on his social media account on twitter, ABC News Ghana can confirm.





CK Tedam served as a Member of Parliament during the colonial era and was a founding member of the Northern People’s Party.

He was appointed the Minister of Local Government under Supreme Military Council junta and subsequently served as a member of the Council of State under former President John Agyekum Kufuor after helping form the party in 1992.

When the party went into opposition in 1992, he accepted the challenge of leading the party as the Chairman of the Council of Elders.

He served in this capacity until he passed away at the age of 94, Thursday night, ABC News Ghana has gathered.
