The Police in the Ashanti Region have issued a bench warrant for 13 Delta Force members who escaped from their custody on Thursday with the help of fellow Delta Force colleagues who had thronged the hearing at a Kumasi Circuit Court.
The 13, who were remanded into prison custody and billed to reappear on 20 April, were whisked away through the backdoor of the judge’s chamber by their supporters.
A statement signed by ASP Yaw Nketia-Yeboah, Public Affairs Director of the Ashanti Regional Police Command, said a bench warrant has been issued for the arrest of the 13.
According to the statement, eight of the Delta Force supporters have aided the escape of the 13 suspects, have been arrested.
