The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said the recent survey by the Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) that gave a damning assessment of the performance of the Mahama led administration, is a confirmation of the party’s long held view that CDD is biased towards the opposition New Patriotic Party.

A survey conducted by CDD-Ghana has revealed that at least 70 percent of Ghanaians believe the economy of the country is heading in the wrong direction.

The survey which covered the period of July 2 to 18 indicated that Ghanaians are worried about their economic conditions which they argue might pose a threat to their existence.

The survey was conducted from a sample size of 2,400 adult Ghanaians cutting across 163 districts and 291 towns and villages.

Presenting the findings of the survey on Tuesday, Senior Researcher Fellow at CDD, Daniel Armah Attoh, said: “a majority of the respondents rated government as “having performed very or fairly badly in the delivery of a range of economic and social goods.”

The report indicated that government “receives poor grades from a clear majority of Ghanaians across a range of micro-indicators – narrowing income gaps, keeping prices down, creating jobs, improving the living standard of the poor and managing the economy.”

Ghanaians further believed that government has failed with its handling of issues such as unemployment, electricity, and education.

But speaking to Kasapa News, National Organizer of the NDC, Kofi Adams who claimed President Mahama has done more in the power sector than any other government, stated that the NDC has over the years never expected the CDD to give a positive assessment of the party.

According to him, while internationally acclaimed bodies such as Transparency International has scored the Mahama -led government high marks in fighting corruption, the CDD is rather busily running the government down.

“We in the NDC don’t work with the CDD because they are an NPP affiliated group; we have long held this view. We’ve always insisted they are bias towards NPP. If you take a look at their report, it is not different from what Nana Akufo Addo says when he goes on campaign; their report is essentially a repeat of NPP views.”
