CID traces location of the 3 kidnapped Takoradi Girls

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has disclosed that, it has found where the three girls who have been kidnapped in Takoradi in the Western Region are.

This was made known by the Director General of the Police CID, Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah, at a press briefing on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

The CID boss also expressed that, “Together with the BNI (Bureau of National Investigations), we have worked very well and currently, we know where the girls are. I am unable to give the details because we don’t want to compromise their safety,” – DCOP Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah.

“It has taken us over three months to even identify where the ladies are and what we don’t want to do is to do anything that will jeopardise the safety of that,” she added.

The BNI recently took over investigations into the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of three girls. Security agencies from the United Kingdom and the USA have also been aiding attempts find the kidnapped girls.

The girls who were kidnapped have been identified as Ruth Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie. They are believed to have been kidnapped between August 2018 and January 2019.

The main suspect in the kidnapping, Sam Udoetuk Wills is currently before a court after he escaped from jail in December 2018 following his first arrest. He was later rearrested at Nkroful. Udoetuk Wills was assaulted in and outside court when he last appeared in court on March 4, 2019.

Meanwhile, a committee set up by the Western Regional Police Command to investigate claims by the suspect that he was aided by an officer of the CID to escape is yet to come out with their findings.

The kidnapping of the three girls, which has taken several months since last year have seen some protests on the streets of Takoradi as well as call by some Civil Society groups and the media for swift action to apprehend the kidnappers and bring the girls back to their families.



The three girls, Priscilla Blessing Bentum, 21years, Ruth Love Quayson, 18 and Priscilla Koranchie, who is 15 years, were kidnapped in the Sekond – Takoradi metropolis and Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality of the Western Region last year and have since not been found.
