Wenchi (B/A), July 25, GNA - Aspiring candidates for the district assembly elections in Wenchi have started filing their nomination papers with the District Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) at Wenchi. Cameramen, photographers and printing houses are also in peak business as the aspirants are taking pictures and preparing posters for display at vantage points.

Mr Prosper Nketia, a 32-year old Registrar at the Wenchi Circuit Court told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) he had decided to contest the seat at the Ahenfie Electoral Area at Wenchi to enable him to organize the people to develop the area to improve their lifestyles. Mr Nketia said since he was young he felt proud to serve his people and would not stay idle and shelve his talents and knowledge, which he could use to help advance the area in development.

He said if the electorate gave him the nod he would lead in active communal activities and help address the poor drainage system in the area as soil erosion was affecting many buildings. The aspirant said he would also ensure that all parents enrolled their children of school-going age in schools so that they would also benefit from the government's capitation grant and the feeding programme.

Mr Nketia appealed to the people to vote for him during the elections so that he could serve them to promote development.

At the Droboso/Beposo Electoral Area, a citizen of Droboso, Mr Samuel Kofi Adjei, popularly called 'African Teacher', aged 30, has also filed his nomination forms to contest the seat in the area. A tutor at Wenchi Methodist Secondary School, holding a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, Mr Adjei said if he emerged victorious he would try to ensure improvement in the standard of education in the area. He promised to regularly visit the people to interact with them to know their priority needs, which he would present at the District Assembly to be addressed.

Mr Adjei pledged to explain government policies to the people for their effective implementation towards the development of the area. He said Droboso, Yoyoano and Beposo formed one electorate and if the people approved of his candidature, he would promote unity amongst them and ensure that they organized themselves for the accelerated development of the communities.
