General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC], Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says the ruling New Patriotic Party [NPP] lied about their “One Constituency, One Ambulance” initiative.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday commissioned and distributed the 307 ambulances procured to help augment operations of the National Ambulance Service [NAS].

The new ambulances are to be distributed in all 275 constituencies in Ghana in fulfillment of the government’s 2016 election campaign to help improve emergency healthcare delivery.

The programme is under the Ministry of Special Development Initiative christened, “One Constituency, One Ambulance”.

But, ‘General Mosquito’ as affectionately called in politics, speaking in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ said that the NPP never captured in their 2016 manifesto to provide each constituency with an ambulance as a campaign promise.

“To be honest with you, I never heard during the 2016 election that NPP promised one constituency one ambulance and I don’t know if it’s in their manifesto,” he told host Mac Jerry Osei Agyeman.

Adding that, “What I have realized is that, this government attributes anything they're mandated to do as a campaign promise. There was no ‘one constituency one ambulance’ during their campaign. They promised one constituency one million Ghana cedis, that is what they have to deliver. They are being deceitful.”
