Dela Coffie, a vocal member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has condemned Former President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over “lack of empathy” for the late Alhaji Bature.

The late Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper who was a strong supporter of the opposition NDC died at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital following a short illness.

The late journalist and harsh critic of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), was scheduled to be buried on Saturday, 6 January, 2018 at the Madina Cemetery in Accra, in accordance to Islamic law.

However, the NDC organised its 5th Unity Walk at Techiman which was led by former President John Dramani Mahama in the Brong Ahafo region on the same day of the burial of the NDC activist.

Mr Coffie who was not enthused about the development took to his Facebook Wall to question the action of the NDC leadership.

“The man he defended with his life, toiled and "died for" is on a self-promotional tour ("unity walk"), amidst fanfare, pomp and pageantry, and without an ounce of respect to the fallen activist?

“Couldn't the organisers of the so-called unity walk pushed it to a later date in honour of Alhaji's demise?

“Does the death of Alhaji Bature mean anything to John Mahama? And is the NDC worth dying for?” he questioned in his post.

Several other individuals have also taken to social media to condemn the NDC over the matter.
