The retained Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia South, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has called on religious leaders in the country to continue to pray for the President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and Vice President-elect, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, as they begin their journey of change and restoration of hope in the Ghanaian economy.

The MP noted that just as they sought spiritual guidance and protection during the course of the electioneering campaign, the President-elect and his vice will need even more divine intervention, in order to surmount the daunting challenges ahead of them, as leaders of this nation.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, aka Dr. Napo, made the plea when he visited a number of churches in his constituency to give thanks to God for his protection and support in ensuring his victory as an MP, and that of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The MP, together with his executives, visited about 12 different churches, including Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church at Krofrom, the Baptist Church, the Yenyawoso branch of the Methodist Church, the Church of Pentecost, Faith Gospel Church and the Apostolic Church Ghana.

Dr. Napo, in separate addresses, emphasised the need for Ghanaians, including Christians, to unite and support the new administration to succeed in its efforts at transforming the country’s economy, and ensure the improvement of the socio-economic development of the people.

He said, in order to confront these mountainous challenges, the new leadership will require divine guidance, which, he said, must obviously be spearheaded by the religious leadership in the country.

“As we all know, the real battle has just begun; Nana Addo will need your support to be able to succeed. I want you to pray for him, so that he can get the wisdom to assembly the best crop of ministers and officials, to be able to serve and serve well,” he pleaded.

Dr. Napo stated that both Nana Addo and the NPP would have sleepless nights until they have rendered praises and gratitude to God Almighty for granting the wishes of Ghanaians.

In all the places visited, the joy and excitement of the people at the change of political direction were clearly visible, as congregants, clad in blue, white and red colours of the NPP celebrated.

At the Faith Gospel Church, Ash-Town, the Head Pastor, Rev. Charles Okrah, said the victory of the NPP was a divine call, adding that God will grant the newly-elected President and his team the wisdom to steer the affairs of this country.
