Efforts to paint Nana Addo black won't work - Karbo to NDC

A Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Karbo has said that the ruling National Democratic Congress's (NDC) deliberate attempts to link the flagbearer of the party Nana Akufo-Addo to alleged misdeeds committed by three former South African ex-police officers will not work.

He is of the firm belief that their ‘lies and continuous blackmail’ will not prevent the opposition leader from achieving his dream of becoming president of the land.

“How can the NDC link Nana Addo to the presence of the SA ex- police officers? It is just a calculated attempt to blackmail Akufo Addo but trust me, it will not wash and will never work because our leader is so clean, strict and principled” he stated.

The NDC had earlier accused the NPP and most especially Nana Akufo Addo of "importing mercenaries" into the country.

The three ex-police officers, 54-year-old Major Ahmed Shaik Hazis (Rtd.), 39-year–old WO/ Denver Dwayhe Naidu (Rtd.) and 45-year-old Captain Mlungiseleli Jokani (Rtd.) were arrested on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at El Capitano Hotel in Agona Duakwa in the Central Region.

A Bureau of National Investigations document said: “The trio, all ex-police officers were engaged in training fifteen young men in various military drills, including unarmed combat, weapon handling, VIP protection techniques and rapid response maneuvers.”

The three ex-South African Police officers were charged with conspiracy to commit crime and unlawful training but were suddenly deported unannounced by security officials on Tuesday.

Anthony Karbo, who is also the parliamentary candidate for Lawra, is accusing the Mahama-led government of doing everything in its power to tarnish the image of Nana Addo to score what he described as cheap political points.

“They have made up their minds to destroy the image of Nana Addo because they want to score cheap political points” he noted.

Describing the Mahama government as being desperate for power, Anthony Karbo stressed that at the right time, Ghanaians will distinguish between an incompetent government and a competent party.
