Flashback: I’ve finished 50% of Mills’ assignments – Anas

Shortly after the unfortunate death of former President John Evans Atta Mills, investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas revealed that he had completed about 50 percent of the assignment given to him by the late president.

According to him, it was the last wish of the late president for him to expose some corrupt individuals in the country.

Anas Aremyaw Anas told the Globe Newspaper that “His last words to me on the next project that I am doing, he said he was very passionate about it and he felt I should do it and do it very, very well.”

Anas added: “Anytime a very big expose came you remember the President went to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital when the story broke. He also went to the Tema Harbour when ‘Enemies of the Nation’ broke, he also went to CEPS when in the ‘Interest of the State’ broke. So anytime some of these stories broke he took time and personally called, he will ask you the questions in-depth. That was how attached to the work that I put out there.”

Ghana’s ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas said he has completed about 50 percent of an assignment given to him by the late President John Mills.

He revealed the late President’s last wish was for him to expose some corrupt individuals in the country.

“His last words to me on the next project that I am doing, he said he was very passionate about it and he felt I should do it and do it very, very well,” Anas told The Globe newspaper.

The award-winning journalist carried out a full scale investigation on state-owned Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), which exposed its rot as well as brought to light several companies and individuals owing the power distribution company of the country.

Anas disclosed the last investigative piece he is about to release will send shivers down the spine of many Ghanaians. He said: “I have seen some of the already completed work and I can tell you it is very exciting.”

In his tribute to the late President, he said President Mills will always be remembered for his resolve to fight corruption in the country.

He added that the late President’s selflessness and readiness to take responsibility “even if the Castle was implicated was unparalleled.”

“When I did ‘Enemies of the Nation’ in Tema and I brought out the fact that the Castle was owing, when he calls that’s what he dwells on and he was very emphatic that even him was not spared the rod in that work and I found that quite encouraging,” Anas opined.
