Deputy Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame has served notice that his office will soon commence an inquiry aimed at filing charges against former government officials complicit in the payment of GHC51.million judgment debt to businessman Alfred Agbeshie Woyome.

This comes after the Supreme Court ordered that several properties identified as belonging to the embattled businessman, judgment debtor, and known bankroller of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alfred Woyome, be sold to offset some 47.2 Million Ghana Cedis he owes the state after an illegal judgment debt paid to him.

Mr Woyome who was put on trial by the state was subsequently acquitted of criminal charges and has since been challenging the Supreme Court order to refund the judgement debt at an African court.

The Attorney General Godfried Yeboah Dame in an interview with host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM Friday said following the latest Supreme Court ruling on the matter, it is time to pursue former government officials complicit in the payment of the whopping amount of money.

“There were other persons that were complicit, we’ll have to look at it and see what charges can be preferred against them.”

Mr Woyome has contested the valuing of his property to be GHC20million insisting that it is not true and they are worth far lower than what the State has stated.

However, Hon. Godfried Yeboah Dame stressed that the properties were properly valued.

Mr Woyome’s properties to be sold include two executive buildings located at Trassaco in Accra, the office complex of Anator Holdings, a company owned by Mr. Woyome, two residential buildings at Caprice and Abelemkpe, both suburbs in Accra, as well as a mining quarry owned by the judgment debtor in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
