Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu has served a warning to any potential candidate from the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) who intends to contest him in 2020 to ready himself/herself for a defeat.

Filing his nomination forms at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency office on Thursday, Haruna Iddrisu told the media he is a consummate democrat who is open to contest but warned that anyone from the NPP who dares contest him was only embarking on an exercise in futility.

He urged his supporters to exhibit same love shown him to former President John Dramani Mahama at the 2020 polls reiterating that as far as the parliamentary seat is concerned it was a forgone conclusion.

“This should contribute significantly to President Mahama’s success in the Presidential election. As for the parliamentary election, it’s a matter of conclusion as I need a single vote which I am assured of in order to beat any potential NPP candidate.” He said.

The Tamale South lawmaker promised to turn the constituency to the Manhyia of Northern Region where votes will determine who wins the presidency in future elections.

“We can only be thankful for the constituents. I am sure that this fourth time that I am being lucky, winning the chance and fate of Tamale South, its chiefs, its women and its youth, constituency executives who are united for one candidate. We intend to develop the Tamale South Constituency as the Manhyia of the NDC in the Northern Region”, he said on Eyewitness News on Thursday.

Haruna Iddrisu will not face any competition in the forthcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) constituency primary as it emerged he is the only person to have picked his form in the Tamale South Constituency.

At the close of nominations for parliamentary candidates, the Tamale South lawmaker was the only person who picked the forms to contest again in the 2020 general elections on the ticket of the NDC.

This will be the fourth time the Former Communication Minister is contesting the seat unopposed as records show same occurrence in 2004, 2008, 2012 and now 2020.
