The newly created Bono East Region will be a stronghold of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) under my watch, this is according to Dr. Oheneba Appiagyei Donkor (Gifas), an aspiring First Vice Chairman.
He has disclosed that he is committed in making the region a no go area for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and will work in concert with other executives to win all seats in the region.
Picking his nomination forms on Thursday April 26, 2019, the renowned businessman told journalists he is committed to working tirelessly to ensure that both government and party succeeds.
“It is only when NPP is power we witness a lot of progress. I am availing myself to ensure that my efforts will make the Bono East Region are no go area for the NDC and any of our political opponents. I will put in strategies to make the parliamentary seats within this region our preserve”, he assured.
The new region currently has a total of 11 constituencies with the National Democratic Congress (NDC) leading with 6 seats and followed by the NPP with 5 seats.
But he has given the assurance that he has what it takes to give the NPP a smooth take off in the new region and claim it for President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2020 and beyond envisaging more terms for the current administration.
He underscored the the need to help consolidate the gains of the party in the region.
In 2016, then-candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo garnered 54.07% with the parliamentary seats moving from 13 to 20 seats as against former President John Dramani Mahama who polled 44.64% and losing 7 out of the 16 seats to 9 parliamentary seats in the Brong Ahafo region before the creation of new regions.
The rest polled less than 2% of the total valid votes cast in all 29 constituencies.
