New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Karaga Constituency of the Northern Region, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has vowed to make history by snatching the seat from the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 polls.
He has promised to rally residents behind the development drive of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo which will manifest in their lives and view of the various development projects to spring up in the area.
“I am determined to win the Karaga seat from the NDC for the first time to rally my people behind the President’s development agenda. We must contribute our part to complement his efforts and ensuring that our people are part of this evolving history of the dedicated and visionary leadership of our President”, he disclosed while interacting with the media after a visit to the area to spend Christmas.
To this end, the Deputy Minister for Energy appealed to the people of northern Ghana to rally behind President Akufo-Addo to bring more development to the area
According to Dr. Amin, it takes visionary leaders to conceive and implement legacy projects that continue to impact positively on their people long after they are gone. “President Akufo-Addo is one of such leaders in Africa and I am happy that he is our own Ghanaian President.”
He predicted that after serving his two terms, the President will continue to be remembered by the people of northern Ghana due to the legacy and human-centered projects he has embarked on.
“Look at the multi-purpose Pwalugu project and the impact it will create in revolutionizing agriculture. Look at the Tamale Airport phase two project, the establishment of the Iron and Steel Development Corporations, and look at the work the Northern Development Authority is doing and the railway line being done from the south to the north. These projects will not only accelerate the development of the North but will also significantly narrow the north-south development gap”, he said
He stressed “President Akufo-Addo is a bold leader, doing projects which many leaders are afraid to do because of the cost involved and the longer time required to fully execute such projects. But for him, whatever it will take to improve on the lives of our people, he is willing to take a step. The President is not a short-termist who is looking at the next election, but a pragmatist.
I can say without any contradiction that apart from President Akufo-Addo, no president has laid such a strong foundation for the transformation of northern Ghana.
We the people from the north of Ghana must judge our leaders not on “tokenist” interventions, but on revolutionary projects that can turn round our fortunes in a sustainable manner. Every President has done schools, some roads, drainage systems and some health facilities; but our President is doing more through unique and long lasting legacy projects that can transform generations, like linking the north and south with a railway system, leveraging our natural resources like Bauxite and Iron Ore to put our country’s development beyond aid, and a nationwide free senior high school program. This is why we must give President Akufo-Addo another 4 years to get these projects fully implemented”
