I will restore 'positive relationship' NDC had with chiefs, party elders - Sly Mensah

Sylvester Mensah is a member of the NDC's Council of elders in Greater Accra Region

Former CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Sylvester Adinam Mensah, has stated that the party lost the 2016 general elections because of the poor relationship the party had with chiefs, religious leaders and elders in society.

The flagbearer hopeful told party executives in the Agortime-Ziope constituency of the Volta Region that, the party lost favour with religious and traditional leaders in the run-up to the election due to the treatment government meted out to them.

He promised that under his leadership, he will restore the relationship between the party and the chiefs as well as religious leaders.

"I am here to give you my word that if you give me the nod, I will restore the party's relationship with our elders, religious leaders and chiefs across the country to ensure that in 2020, they will support the party for victory,” assured the party faithful.

He continued: I give you my word that I shall bring on board all our party elders who took a decision to stay away from us in 2016 due to our attitude towards them."

Mr. Mensah, who is a foundation member of the NDC and served in various positions, is currently a member of the Council of elders in Greater Accra Region. He said he will rely on the personal relationship he has with all elders to restore their confidence in the party, under his leadership.

Delegates were happy that Mr. Mensah's message has given them a positive assurance that will restore unity in the party, and promised to support and vote for him on January 19, 2019, when the party goes to the polls to chose a presidential candidate.

Mr. Mensah began his campaign tour in the Volta Region last week. The team continues to other Constituencies in the region.
